Parental Involvement

Our parents are encouraged to be active members of our school community, we have an open door policy for communication.

We perceive education as a partnership between home and school with parents and teachers sharing a common vision which forms a powerful combination. Parents are able to speak with class teachers and the Principal whenever they need to. It is as simple as making an appointment. In addition to this, there are a number of ways for parents to get involved in the life of our school such as:

  • fundraising
  • canteen volunteer work
  • assisting in classroom learning
  • sports carnivals
  • school excursions

Demonstrate to your children that volunteering is a good thing.

Every single one of us can help in a small or large capacity.

Chisholm Community Group

The Chisholm Community Group works closely with staff to ensure the best educational setting for all children.

The Chisholm Community Group values and plans for:

  • encouraging parental involvement at Chisholm
  • social activities which promote a co-operative spirit among parents, teachers and students
  • fundraising activities (e.g. Bush Dance, Trivia Night, Discos, BBQ's)
  • discussions on matters affecting students' faith and development
  • opportunities which inform parents of current developments in education generally, and Catholic education in particular
  • attending school liturgies and other events such as celebrating our patroness, Caroline Chisholm

The Chisholm Community Group meets twice a term on a Tuesday evening. Membership is open to all parents and carers of children attending our school.

Parent Assisted Learning

Parents are encouraged and welcomed to assist teachers in classrooms. All parents and carers wishing to help in the classroom need to have attended a classroom helper training session.

In addition, parents are also encouraged to attend "parent forums" throughout the year that have an educational focus, as a way of fostering parental involvement with their child's learning.

There are many other opportunities to help, such as excursions, carnivals and covering books. If you can spare some time to help us, please contact your child's teacher.

Can You Help in the Canteen?

Our school canteen provides a great support to our children and families due to the generous support of volunteers.

Please contact Sandra Goldsbrough at the school on (02) 4573 3200 if you can help in the canteen at any time.

Volunteer Training

We welcome the contribution volunteers make to the life of our school.

As we are committed to keeping students safe, all volunteers in schools are required to complete the building child safe communities undertaking form and child protection training module before volunteering. These checks reduce potential risk and forms part of our strategy to build child safe communities.
