Involving Everyone

Chisholm Catholic Primary sees itself as a member of an extended family including students and their families, the parish of St Matthew’s and the wider community.

Student Leadership Team

In today’s world, leadership skills are increasingly important and at Chisholm we give our students a high level of responsibility in the school. A student leadership team is elected each year to be involved in aspects of school life, including:

  • technology
  • environment
  • community building
  • social justice initiatives
  • sporting activities

Parent Involvement

Our families are encouraged to be active members of our school community and we have an open door policy for parent communication.

Parents are able to speak with class teachers and the principal whenever they need to. It is as simple as making an appointment.

There is a Parents and Friends Association active within the school, giving parents a forum to discuss relevant school issues. Other opportunities for parental and family involvement include:

  • fundraising
  • canteen volunteer work
  • assisting in classroom learning
  • sports carnivals
  • school excursions
  • hosting and facilitating sacramental groups
  • attending school liturgies and other events such as celebrating our patroness Caroline Chisholm

N.B.  Child protection legislation requires that all volunteers complete an online Child Protection training module every two years.  The link for this programme is noted below.

Chisholm Community Group:

Chisholm Community Group works closely with staff in ensuring the best educational setting for all children.

The Chisholm Community Group values and plans for:

  • social activities which promote a co-operative spirit among parents, teachers and students
  • fund raising activities (eg, Bush Dance, Trivia Night)
  • discussions on matters affecting students' faith and development
  • opportunities which inform parents of current developments in education generally and Catholic education in particular

The Chisholm Community Group meets on the first Wednesday evening of each month.  Membership is open to all parents and guardians of children attending our school.

Parent Assisted Learning

Parents are encouraged and welcomed to assist teachers in classrooms with reading, writing, mathematics, computers, gross motor and art and craft.

There are many other opportunities to help, such as excursions, carnivals and covering books.  If you can spare some time to help us, please contact your child's teacher.
